INTRODUCTION TO THE EXHIBITION

Since my earliest childhood, the beautiful simplicity of medieval furniture has marked my way of seeing, my spirit.

My links to this period with all its qualities were probably passed on to me by my father.

A wish to show the site to people, to help them understand it as a whole, to grasp the scale and the means deployed and its influence since it was built in the Middle Ages all prompted the creation of this site as something absolutely necessary. We want to share information, provide the keys for understanding the medieval world, the people and their environment, where the Grésigne forest and its master glassmakers were omnipresent.

It seemed quite natural to highlight the period of construction of Penne Castle by putting a range of objects on display, some of which were found during excavations on the site in the course of restoration work.

The furniture attracts the eye with the beauty of its pure and simple design. It provides an example of craftsmanship that was widespread all through the Middle Ages.

Let us hope that this space we will make people want to take an interest in the period, to commit to highlighting this key epoch in our region.
